First, prepare the following tools: Shop-Vac, Screwdriver, Backwash hose, Utility knife, Pool filter sand or filter sand substitute like our Aqualoon (check your filter’s manual for the amount), Duct tape or Centralizer(you will have this plastic cover for standpipe if you use Starmatrix pool filter)

      1.Turn Off the Pump and Drain the Filter

      2. Remove the multi-port Valve

      3. Cover the Standpipe with duct tape or centralizer (prevent sand from getting into your pool)

      4. Remove the Sand (If you don’t have a Shop-Vac, you can scoop the old sand out by hand with a plastic cup.)

      5. Rinse Out the Tank and Laterals (Inspect the standpipe and laterals for damage carefully, make sure that there isn't any cracks.)

      6. Fill the Tank Halfway with Water

      7. Add the New Sand (Wear your mask to avoid breathing in dust.)

      8. Fill the Tank and Reassemble the Connections

      9. Backwash and Rinse the Filter

      10. Run the Filter
