For above-ground pools, Starmatrix has three main types of filters: Sand, Aqualoon, and Cartridge.

      Sand filters:
      work by running water through specially-sized sand. The debris gets caught in the sand as the water passes through. They are very low maintenance and the cheapest option. However, they only filter down to particles of 20-30 microns.A sand filter needs to be back-washed and rinsed regularly (every one to two months depending on pool use).

      Cartridge filters:
      The simplest type of filter is a cartridge filter. Much like the air filter on a home HVAC system, the cartridge inside the filter are responsible to collect debris. But it must be removed and washed occasionally. Eventually, a cartridge needs to be threw away and replaced with a new one.

      Aqualoon filters:
      Aqualoon is a new generation of filter media for your pools, coming in the form of tiny balls, made of 100% polyethylene, in a network of interlaced strands that are manufactured to prevent the balls from fraying and releasing residues during use, while increasing lifespan.Compared to sand and cartridge media, aqualoon can trap particles of even 3 microns.
